San Francisco based fiber artist, Linda Hannawalt believes art quilts should inspire memories, display beauty, and evoke passion. Her work features textiles from around the world, including Africa, New York, Hong Kong and South America. Linda supports several charitable organizations and donates twenty-five percent of her quilt's proceeds to educating and empowering deserving individuals in the Bay Area.

History

In 1976, Linda Kiehle-Hannawalt began her career in fiber arts and in 1984 she founded Encore Designs and began her career as a textile artist. With intense love of color and design, Linda began designing hand-painted, quilted, reversable art apparel. In 1992 her focus changed to the design and creation of mosaic and stained glass functional art furniture. During a cruise to Alaska in 2005, Linda came across a quilt shop in Skagway Alaska and again, her interest in quilting was sparked.

Her expuisite, one-of-a-kind art quilts are beautiful, functional and fun. Linda hopes the world will enjoy her quilt-making journey.

Dreaming of Africa Series

February 2007 San Francisco, CA - Linda Kiehle-Hannawalt entered the world fo quilting in 2006 exploding with passion. Linda delights in creating unique art quilts through innovative planning, design and construction. Each quilt expresses an exclusive approach, incorporating vibrant color, challenging quilting techniques and visual texture that reflect the distinctive mood and interest of each of her clients.

Linda's "Dreaming of Africa" series includes twelve, one-of-a-kind, quilts that perfectly showcase African themed fabrics collected from around the world. These fabrics, grouped together by color, design and distinguishing quilting techniques, represent the magical quality of this magnificent continent. Starting February 23, 2007, these quilts will be on exhibit at the prestigious Metropolitan Club in San Francisco.
